Job Description:
Under the direct supervision of the Director of the Multiscale Translational Research (MSTR) Core, the Research Project Manager - MSTR collaborates with principal investigators and research administration staff to develop, coordinate, and facilitate the research activities of the MSTR. These responsibilities include day to day oversight of laboratory equipment and safety within the MSTR; facilitating the smooth operation of MSTR research facilities and laboratories; coordinating with MSTR principal investigators to manage the development and submission of pre- and post-award grant materials; assisting investigators with the development and writing of grant proposals to federal, state, and private funding agencies; searching for new funding opportunities and promoting them to MSTR investigators; and updating the MSTR website. Essential to this role is facilitating efficient and effective communication among the MSTR investigators, staff, and other COH departments to grow the MSTR’s extramural funding base and ensure that MSTR research is conducted in an efficient, safe, and effective manner that enhances the reputation of the organization both nationally and internationally.

The Research Project Manager - MSTR will collaborate closely with the MSTR director, department chairs, faculty, and staff to manage projects; develop single investigator and large, multidisciplinary, multi-investigator proposals; and ensure compliance with timelines and sponsor regulations. The Research Project Manager - MSTR should exhibit the following characteristics:

  • Expertise in the conduct of scientific research and development and writing of grant proposals
  • Relies on experience, expertise and judgment to define and accomplish goals
  • Facilitates communication and serves as a liaison among MSTR leaders, research staff, and other COH departments
Minimum Education and Skills Required for Consideration:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computational Biology, Applied Mathematics or Statistics, preferred. Experience may substitute for minimum education requirements.
  • 1+ year’s relevant experience. Experience writing grant proposals, including NIH SBIR or R01 proposals.
  • Preferred Experience: Computational biology and mathematic modeling
  • Strong collaborator with ability to successfully influence physicians, principal investigators and other staff members. Excellent skills in problem solving, data analysis, project management. Strong written and verbal English.Works collaboratively. Meets deadlines. Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and interpersonal skills. Performs and prioritizes multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Software: 3+ years of experience with related software applications (spreadsheet and database). 2+ years of experience with R and Python. 2+ years of experience with MS Word, PowerPoint and graphing software
