Well-known University seeks a Software Engineer to join the highly collaborative Team and work with a global team of experts to create the Human Cell Atlas. The goal of the project is to "create comprehensive reference maps of all human cells - the fundamental units of life - as a basis for both understanding human health and diagnosing, monitoring, and treating disease." The Client uses big data technologies to facilitate research for global health issues such as breast cancer and other genetic risk factors. - BS degree with 2+ years experience with Python, Bioinformatics, Java, API, Linux
- Demonstrated ability to develop conversion and system implementation plans.
- Some familiarity of current bioinformatics tools, compression algorithms, and data types.
- Experience with distributed, highly scalable databases, such as HBase or Cassandra, as well as an in-depth knowledge of traditional SQL database concepts.
- Experience with cloud computing services such as Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud
- Programming experience with Scala or Clojure prefers.
- Competencies Bachelor's degree in related area
- Advanced skills associated with software design, modification, implementation and deployment, including object-oriented programming concepts.
- Demonstrated ability to interface with management on a regular basis.
- Demonstrated ability to create software specifications.
- Thorough experience with identification and use of code libraries and open-source forums.
- Demonstrated software repository skills.
- Demonstrated testing and test planning skills.
- Proven database expertise in formulating efficient schemas.
