Job Description:
Bioinformatics Scientist (12-month Contract)

You will be part of a dynamic, innovative and collaborative team, working to transform healthcare by unlocking the power of genome, where you will have the opportunity to work on several genomics projects. You will develop and apply your data analysis skills to refine the best methods for identifying clinically relevant gene mutations. This is a temporary position to cover the maternity leave of the post holder and is available to commence in August at least 12 months.

Responsibilities:

  • Data analysis: apply best practice statistical/computational methods to analyse transcriptome and whole-genome sequence data
  • Pipeline development: improve and validate internal pipelines
  • Working closely with key research collaborations: requires attention to detail and coping with deadlines
Required Skills And Experience:
  • MSc degree (or equivalent) or higher qualification in Bioinformatics, Genomics, Computational Biology, Biostatistics or another related subject
  • Demonstrable ability in scripting languages, such as Python, R or MATLAB and familiarity with a Linux environment
  • Ability to contribute independently and collaboratively
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
Desirable Skills And Experience:
  • Strong experience in data analysis
  • Knowledge of cancer biology.
  • Prior experience in the analysis of Next Generation Sequencing data, including RNA Sequencing, Whole Genome Sequencing and/or targeted sequencing datasets.
