Job Description:
We are seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic post-doctoral researcher with expertise in bioinformatics to join the photosynthesis team at Lancaster as part of the project RIPE: Realizing Increased Photosynthetic Efficiency for Sustainable Increases in Crop Yield. The aim of the proposed research at LEC is to exploit diversity in Rubisco function in cowpea and its wild relatives to improve the photosynthetic efficiency of this crop, both through informing breeding of improved cultivars and using genome editing approaches.

You will have a background in bioinformatics, detailed knowledge of computational biology, and relevant experience of working with genomics, transcriptomics data and bioinformatics. Experience of working with crop species and a good understanding of photosynthesis are also desirable. A proactive and enthusiastic approach and excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential for the collaborative nature of the research. Attention to detail and excellent English writing skills are essential to meet the exciting and challenging goals of the project within demanding deadlines.

Contract Length: 2.5 years (30 months), renewable for 1 additional year subject to funding

Salary: £27,285 - £31,604 Research Associate / £33,518 - £38,832 Senior Research Associate
