Job Description:
UES, Inc., is seeking a Research Scientist in Bioinformatics to support research at the Air Force Research Laboratory School of Aerospace Medicine. The successful candidate will utilize sequencing and -omic datasets to develop insights into eukaryotic cell activity. The position will focus on analyzing data and automating data analysis pipelines for synthetic biology and toxicology research questions.

The successful candidate must have BS or MS with 5+ years’ experience or Ph.D. with 1-2 years’ postdoctoral experience in bioinformatics with a background in genomics, genetics, molecular biology, and biological pathways. Experience with programming/scripting and mining public databases is required. The ability to analyze large datasets, utilize pathway analysis tools (e.g., DAVID, IPA, GSEA) and use data visualization tools are also required. The Bioinformatics Analyst will work independently to implement and develop bioinformatics tools. The selected candidate will document and present research progress in forms of reports, publications, and oral presentations. Strong communication skills and a willingness to collaborate is essential.

Requirements:

• Education Requirements: BS or MS in Bioinformatics/Biostatistics/ Computational Biology or PhD in Bioinformatics, Microbiology, Cell Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, or related field of study.

• Required Experience: BS or MS with 5+ years of experience or Ph.D. with 1-2 years’ postdoctoral experience in bioinformatics, or related field with a heavy emphasis in bioinformatics tools.

• Track record of demonstrated development/implementation of an -omics analytical pipeline

• Excellent communication skills including peer-reviewed publications and conference presentations

• This position is working within a government facility and requires U.S. Citizenship
