Our client is based in Indianapolis, Indiana, USA, and is a top-tier agricultural company. Today, they are hiring for a Bioinformatics Scientist to work in their Genomics department. This role will be a 6 month+ contract with a good possibility of long term extension. Pay for this role will be $25.00 - $29.00 / hr The Genomics department serves a large number of departments and functions to generate, analyze and deliver high quality data and solutions while continuously implementing innovative technologies. Qualified candidates will be required to have a solid foundation in genomics and experience with analysis of large next generation sequencing datasets is required. Key Responsibilities May Include: -Provide bioinformatics expertise towards the analysis and interpretation of genomics data and next generation sequencing experiments -Design and development of bioinformatics platforms to maximize the use of in-house and public datasets -Interact with other scientists across the organization to use genomics to drive efficient and effective product discovery and development -Work in a team environment on lab projects to analyze genomics data, evaluate results and prepare reports for presentation. -Prioritize and complete research in a timely, reproducible manner independently and within teams. -Written and verbal communication skills are essential along with an ability to collaborate effectively with both laboratory and field scientists. Qualifications: -MS degree or PhD degree in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Biology or equivalent. -Experience with bioinformatics software and techniques involved with analysis of large next generation sequencing datasets is required. -Knowledge of Perl, Python or other scripting languages -Knowledge of working in a unix environment -Knowledge of R for data interpretation and analysis
