- Support lab researchers and bioinformatics team in data management, processing and analysis
- Maintain/debug/improve the existing web-based databases/applications and data processing pipelines in the lab
- Perform routine data processing and QC checking using the lab computer cluster
- Design, develop and deploy new databases/applications and data processing pipelines, as well as custom scripts to meet new needs
- Maintain/install application software on the Linux servers
- Document work
- Interact with other members in the team
- Participate in lab meetings and other activities
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Work products and documents related to the development of new or improved web-based databases/applications
- Work products and documents related to the development of new or improved scripts for data processing and analysis
- Work products and documents related to the administration of the lab cluster
- Software development skills in R/Bioconductor, Python, Shell; expertise in a low-level language is desirable.
- Strong oral and written communication and interpersonal skills required.
- Ideal candidates will demonstrate ability to work independently as well as work with others in a team
- M.S. in biostatistics, bioinformatics, computer sciences, etc. with at least two years’ relevant experience OR bachelor’s degree with at least three years of relevant experience.
- Good familiarity in using a computer cluster and running pipelines is highly desired
- Good knowledge in biology, molecular biology, genetics and Next-Generation sequencing (NGS)
- Hands-on bioinformatics and NGS data handling experience
- Experience in developing web-based databases/applications with PHP, MySQL, Apache, AJAX, etc . in Linux/Mac OS X environment is a plus
