Job Description:
Jewelers Mutual Insurance Company, the nation's only company exclusively insuring the jewelry industry is hiring for a Data Scientist II!

The Data Scientist will work with our Actuarial, product, underwriting, digital, marketing, media and technology teams to develop in-depth reporting and research that reveals the key insights that drive the strategic direction of our corporate initiatives. This position will be responsible for solving important business problems through data mining and statistical analysis while providing insights to guide reporting, benchmarking, optimization and execution. The Data Scientist will report high-level metrics across various marketing channels; educate/collaborate with internal stakeholders on results; and create/present reporting for ecommerce, email, lead generation, digital campaigns while identifying and recommending opportunities for improvement and optimization.

What we need:

Someone who is successful with the following:

• Leverage large proprietary and third-party datasets in novel ways to derive insights, optimize processes, and drive strategies

• Design new reports, tools and tracking systems for data analysis, research, testing, prediction and monitoring

• Collaborate with agencies and partners to ensure continuity and advancement of analytics reporting and analysis

• Monitor key metrics to help identify issues, trends and opportunities

• Perform data validation of tracking data across digital channels to ensure vendor and internal data alignment

• Perform data wrangling to create research datasets and execute predictive models and advanced analytics

• Experienced in business and data analysis

• Strong technical skills regarding data analysis, statistics and programming

• Experience solving real problems using advanced analytics

• Knowledge and experience with reporting and data extract API’s

• Expert level knowledge of MS Excel and SQL Server Experience with data collection, consolidation and visual reporting tools (e.g., Tableau, R, SAS, Python)Familiarity with tagging and tracking

• Familiarity with HTML, JavaScript and VBA

• Analytical and critical thinker with a high attention to detail and an ability to communicate complex concepts to a non-technical audience

• Experience translating requests and requirements into concise and useful reports

Education/Computer Skills/Experience:

Masters, PhD, or equivalent experience in a quantitative field (computer science, physics, mathematics, statistics, engineering, bioinformatics, etc.) with an emphasis on predictive modeling.

1-5 years of professional experience in an analyst role. No actuarial exams required.

Property/casualty insurance background and jewelry industry experience are helpful.
