Job Description:
The Neurodevelopmental Disorders Program at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai (ISMMS) is looking for a full-time programmer with a strong background in web and database development. The candidate will be responsible for building and maintaining a web-based database used to collect clinical and genetic data from research study subjects. The successful applicant will work as part of a project involving clinical and genetic researchers working on neurodevelopmental disorders with a large focus on epilepsy. S/he will be responsible for developing, testing, improving and maintaining new and existing databases to help users retrieve data effectively. We seek a highly motivated and dedicated person with a B.Sc. or M.Sc. degree in Bioinformatics, Computer Science or a related field, with excellent quantitative skills and the ability to work well in a collaborative environment. The candidate will preferably have at least two years of work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. The applicant should have a strong database development background, and prior experience with clinical databases is preferable. What You'll Bring:
Education and Experience:- B.Sc. or M.Sc. degree in Bioinformatics, Computer Science or a related field
- Excellent quantitative skills and the ability to work well in a collaborative environment.
- The candidate will preferably have at least two years of work experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- The applicant should have a strong database development background, and prior experience with clinical databases is preferable.
- Proven work experience as a Database developer
- Hands on experience with SQL
- Familiarity working with PHP, JavaScript, HTML and relational databases such as MySQL/MariaDB and/or Postgres
- Knowledge of software development and user interface web applications
- Linux/Unix operating systems and high-performance computing clusters.
- Prior experience with RedCap is an asset.
- Statistical packages (e.g. R, Matlab).
- Ability to complete tasks efficiently and independently.
- Strong work ethic and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and writing skills.
- Ability to work well with others.
