Job Description:
Join the fast-paced, high-performance Genomics R&D team in developing and deploying novel product offerings that help advance human health and fight cancer. You’ll discover who we are -- inventors, scientists, engineers, and visionaries working together to deliver the products and services that enable our customers to answer significant biological and clinical questions. We are seeking a highly motivated DevOps professional to join our team of informatics and software experts.

Responsibilities:

Develop, deploy, monitor, maintain, and support both on-premise and cloud-based compute and storage infrastructure for internal bioinformatics pipelines and SaaS products in Genomics:

  • Work closely with the development team to operationalize solutions.
  • Ensure infrastructure meets security and other policies.
  • React quickly to issues to keep services running 24/7.
  • Perform day-to-day system administration and maintenance tasks.
  • Research, recommend, develop, and deploy improvements in a proactive manner.
  • Develop and update business continuity and disaster recovery plans for our software services.
  • Maintain and improve continuous integration of the developed software.
Actively manage coordination with Enterprise IT and other Agilent functions:
  • Work closely with Agilent Enterprise IT on tools, policies, and practices.
  • Develop business continuity and disaster recovery plans.
  • Represent Genomics in security audits.
  • Bachelor or Master Degree in engineering, computer science, or equivalent discipline.
  • 5+ years of professional experience.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of cloud-computing, e.g., OpenStack or AWS; information and risk management principles across geographies; high performance computing; automation of system administration tasks, continuous integration setup.
Key systems and tools:
  • Administration of Debian, RHEL, CoreOS, and Amazon Linux
  • Vim, Git, SSH, and Linux shell
  • Scripting with Bash, Perl, and Python
  • AWS EC2, VPC, and S3
  • Atlassian tools
Additional tools:
  • Configuration Management: Ansible or equivalent
  • Network Apps: IPMI, PXE boot, DHCP, iptables, DNS, PKI, NGINX
  • File Storage: EXT3, XFS, ZFS, NFS, Samba
  • Process Management: Systemd, Docker, Slurm, SGE, PBS
  • Auth: LDAP, Active Directory
  • Databases: PostgreSQL, SQL Server, Oracle DB, MySQL, ElasticSearch
  • AWS IAM, Glacier, CloudWatch, CloudFormation, ECS, Route53
