Job Description:
We’re looking for a candidate with 1-3 years of experience for a DevOps style role on our Informatics Infrastructure Team. This team designs, implements, operates and maintains the high-performance compute infrastructure that is tailor designed to address the substantial processing, networking and data moving challenges arising from genomic science. Utilizing the elasticity of the Cloud and innovative Big Data technologies, the team collaborates with IGM faculty and R&D teams to develop highly optimized state-of-the-art bioinformatics solutions. We are looking for a candidate with strong AWS, IaaS, Linux systems administration, HPC, and Big Data experience, who can leverage their expertise to provide investigators and software engineers the computing environment they need to make an impact in medical care by advancing our understanding of the role of the human genome in disease. While the primary responsibilities will focus around the compute infrastructure, you will have opportunities to contribute in the development of new bioinformatics software and genomic analysis pipelines. Responsibilities: -Linux systems administration (with the potential for some Windows administration) -Using AWS to provide IaaS/IaC, including compute, storage & networking (EC2, EBS, S3, Glacier, VPC) -Day-to-day operation and support of the AWS compute infrastructure -Security, logging, auditing & compliance (HIPAA) -Backups & disaster recovery -Automation & optimization -Troubleshooting & issue resolution -Installation, configuration and evaluation of various bioinformatics software tools -Configuration management, documentation and process improvement Other information: -Bachelor Degree in related Computer Science areas or equivalent experience required. -Scripting & process automation experience (Perl, Python, shell, etc). -Software development is a plus (Java preferred). -Knowledge of web development technologies is beneficial (HTML, CSS, JS, JQuery, J2EE). -HPC & Big Data (Hadoop) systems knowledge also a plus. -Interest in molecular biology, and willingness to learn concepts and terminology from these fields as needed. -Must have a high attention to detail, strong communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
