Job Description:
The Department of Computer Science at the University of Nebraska at Omaha (UNO) invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position, beginning August 2018 at the rank of an Assistant Professor. We are seeking candidates in the area of computer systems (architecture, networking, operating systems) and closely related areas including, but not limited to, emerging distributed and cloud computing infrastructures, IoT, embedded and cyber-physical systems. The new hire should have a strong potential to conduct high-quality research, procure funding, and be committed to teach computer systems courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Candidates must have received a doctorate in computer science or a closely related field prior to the employment start date. Exceptional candidates at the rank of Associate Professor will also be considered.

In addition to computer science department, the College of Information Science and Technology (IS&T) has two other units -the Department of Information Systems and Quantitative Analysis, and the School of Interdisciplinary Informatics. The department has significantly grown in the recent years through several high quality faculty hires and provides a thriving collaborative research environment spanning several cross-cutting areas including biomedical informatics, cybersecurity, computer science education (CSEd), information management, and social computing. The academic program portfolio of the college includes five undergraduate degree programs (Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Bioinformatics, Cybersecurity, IT Innovation) and five Master of Science degree programs (Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Cybersecurity, IT Innovation, CSEd). The college also hosts two innovative PhD programs in Information Technology and Biomedical Informatics. The college of IS&T has around 1200 students with roughly 800 undergraduates. The College of IS&T has nearly 60 full-time tenure track faculty/staff and an active research grants portfolio of $10 million with funds from federal agencies (e.g., NSA, NSF, NIH, Dept of Ed), state government (e.g., NRI, NSF EPSCoR, NU Foundation) and from a number of local and national agencies.
