Job Description:
Bellwether Bio, a cancer diagnostics technology company, seeks a highly qualified individual with immediate availability for the position of Senior Full-Stack Developer, a full-time position reporting to Bellwether’s Chief Technology Officer. The Senior Full-Stack Developer will drive the rollout of Bellwether’s computational toolkit for translating DNA sequencing data into clinically actionable findings.

What We Are Looking For

You will prepare for and lead the launch of Bellwether’s new software product, a containerized image, on leading cloud computing platforms. Key steps will include automating the company’s workflow by integrating existing software (QC, analysis, and dataviz) into pipelines; ensuring cross-platform compatibility across cloud computing environments; and improving performance and scalability to large datasets.

In short, you’ll help us take our existing tools, combine them with new tools you’ll develop, roll them all up into a container, and push it out to the cloud. The more you can fill in this sketch – putting a gorgeous front-end on it, improving robustness, delivering the most secure solution – the better.

Who We Are Looking For

You‘re aligned with our mission to improve outcomes for individuals with cancer. You recognize that technology can’t solve all of our healthcare challenges, but you agree that it can have a big impact in helping to detect cancer earlier, cheaper, and more accurately. Like us, you want develop technology that’s accessible to everyone, not just a narrow slice of the world.

You have built, tested, and shipped software in a fast-paced professional capacity, either by yourself or as part of a team, on time and under budget. You understand the important of hitting deadlines. You like to work independently, but you’re not afraid to ask questions and accept feedback.

You prefer Python, and know your way around a command line. You speak AWS, Google Cloud, or both. Ideally, you’ve had some experience in cluster computing with SGE or UGE, and in containerization – specifically in building and deploying Docker images. If not, you’re convinced you could learn, and learn quickly. Prior knowledge of biology and genomics is not required, but certainly doesn’t hurt!

You’re attracted to a startup environment, where priorities can sometimes change quickly. You thrive with a flexible schedule, and are self-motivated. You want to be able to help shape the company’s strategy, not just execute on it.

You hate being on-call. We’re not going to ask you to be on-call.

You’ll mostly be working out of our Seattle office, but with occasional and brief travel.

Qualifications:

BA, BSc, or equivalent degree required. Advanced degree in Computer Science, Bioinformatics, or other relevant field preferred. Demonstrable experience shipping software will be weighted more highly than training. Please be prepared to provide a code sample upon request
