Job Description:
The New York Genome Center (NYGC) invites applications for a Core Junior Faculty Member position in all areas of human genetics or genomics. We encourage applicants who seek to design innovative approaches to analyze and interpret human genetic and genomic data, advance personalized and precision medicine, develop new methods in statistical or population genetics, or to understand the genetic underpinnings of clinical phenotypes. The candidate's research interests should synergize with the highly collaborative environment at NYGC, including diverse Faculty, Computational Biology and Innovation Labs. NYGC Faculty have access to significant computational resources and sequencing infrastructure, and are encouraged to interact and collaborate across the New York research community. A Core Faculty Member appointment at NYGC is typically coupled with a tenure-track faculty appointment with one of the partner universities, as negotiated during the recruitment process.

The NYGC Faculty comprises an exceptional group of primary basic science faculty with research interests spanning human genetics, computational biology, genomics, developmental biology, single cell analysis, epigenetics, and genome engineering (http://www.nygenome.org/lab-groups-overview/). Faculty hold joint appointments with departments at NYC-area universities, such as Cornell University, Columbia University, and New York University.

Candidates must hold a Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent degree, and have an outstanding research record. Applications should include a cover letter, a curriculum vitae, a description of previous research (1 page), a concise statement of research plans (up to 2 pages), reprints of two publications and three letters of reference. We strongly encourage applications from minorities, women, protected veterans and individuals with disabilities. Application materials should be uploaded before December 31, but the position will remain open until filled.

The New York Genome Center is a VEVRAA Federal Contractor. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment and will not be discriminated against on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, national origin, age, disability, or protected veteran status. The New York Genome Center takes affirmative action in support of its policy to hire and advance in employment individuals who are minorities, women, protected veterans, and individuals with disabilities.
