Job Description:
The post-doc will utilize next-generation sequencing data in barley and wheat. Research includes analysis of genes affecting growth and development of small grains plants. Research will also focus on development of high throughput, cost effective protocols to simultaneously genotype large numbers of loci, developing bioinformatics pipelines, characterizing genetic diversity and population structure, and genome-wide mapping for cereal improvement. The post-doc will analyze DNA sequence data of barley and wheat, integrating genomic and genotyping resources for molecular breeding. The post-doc will lead preparation of scientific manuscripts reporting research methodology, results and interpretations.

Other Work/Responsibilities

The postdoc will be expected the present research findings at national and international meetings. The post doc will be expected to prepare and submit manuscripts to peer reviewed journals. There will also be opportunities to mentor undergraduate student workers.

Minimum Experience/Education:

Ph.D. or equivalent doctorate (e.g., M.D., D.V.M., Sc.D.) in appropriate field awarded no more than five (5) years from initial date of postdoctoral appointment.

Departmental Required Skills:

  • PhD in plant breeding, genetics or bioinformatics or a related field.
  • Strong data management and analysis skills.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Demonstrated experience preparing high quality scientific manuscripts.
Preferred Experience, Skills, Training/Education:

PhD in plant breeding.
