It was founded with the goal of solving fundamental problems in Nevada population health as well as to better understand the determinants of health in this unique catchment area. Recently, the IHI completed a pilot population health study and genotyped 10,000 Northern Nevadans in collaboration with the personal genetics company 23andMe. The IHI is building a large data warehouse around the determinants of health – aggregating environmental, socio-economic, behavioral and genetic data in combination with a large EMR dataset.
