Job Description:
Our client is a global pharmaceutical company. They have asked us to assist them in their search for an Principal Scientist, Translational Medicine. Major tasks and responsibilities will include: -Provides exceptional scientific and strategic leadership to understand molecular heterogeneity of human respiratory diseases and apply this knowledge to aid development of the company’s portfolio for asthma and COPD. -Leads a team of lab-enabled scientists / Sr. scientists and bioinformatics analysts to mine genomic and proteomic data from internal and external collaborations and clinical trials to develop high profile manuscripts. -Leads one or more Translational Science sub-teams that will apply knowledge derived from such analysis to develop testable personalized healthcare strategies. -In this role, you will also have the opportunity to lead diagnostic teams to turn predictive biomarkers into companion diagnostics. -Builds strong relationships with key stakeholders in clinical development, research, and external academic collaborators. -Provides a strong scientific and strategic leadership and works with a fast-paced clinical and product development organization to translate fundamental insights into the molecular heterogeneity of human disease into targeted therapeutic and biomarker hypotheses that can be tested in clinical trials. -Drives the publication of biomarker data in top-tier scientific, technical or medical journals. We seek candidates with the following qualifications: -Must have an advanced degree of MD, MD/PhD or PhD in a relevant scientific field (e.g. molecular biology, cell signaling, bioinformatics) or equivalent experience. -Must have a minimum of 10 years of post-MD/PhD experience in an academic and/or industry setting. -Requires an outstanding record of innovative contributions to translational sciences in respiratory as evidenced by a strong publication record including first / senior-authored publications in top-tier journals, inventorship on patents/filings and presentations at important conferences. -Must have at least 8-10 years of experience managing a group of research associates, scientists or leading a matrix team. -Outstanding verbal and written communications skills are a must. Desirable Requirements: Experience in analyzing large datasets including genomic and proteomic together with a sound understanding of critical development functions, e.g. Clinical Sciences, Biomarker Development, and Translational Medicine.
