The Division of Genetic Epidemiology in the Department of Epidemiology (http://epidemiology.phhp.ufl.edu/) in the College of Public Health and Health Professions and College of Medicine invites applications for a Research Assistant Scientist to work in genetic epidemiology, bioinformatics, and computational biology. Candidates have opportunities to work on high-dimensional multi-omics datasets including genetics (e.g., GWAS, WGS, NGS), epigenetics (methylation, microRNA, ChIP-seq), transcriptomics (RNA-seq), metabolomics, and proteomics for human complex disorders such as Alzheimer’s disease, major depression, obesity, diabetes, and cardiovascular disease. The Department provides an outstanding environment for interdisciplinary, cutting-edge scientific research, career development and interactions with other units that perform basic, translational and clinical research. Senior faculty members in the department are committed to provide strong mentorship for junior investigators to advance their careers. Minorities are strongly encouraged to apply. - An appropriate doctoral level degree in epidemiology, quantitative genetics, bioinformatics or a related field.
- Strong computational skills or experience working with high-dimensional omics datasets needed.
