Job Description:
Are you highly motivated, have a quantitative background, and able to learn quickly and work independently? Do you have what cannot be taught--intellectual sharpness and creativity? Do you have experience working in and communicating with cross functional teams?

Lilly's Outcomes and Translational Research group is looking for key multi-dimensional talent to perform big data analysis using bioinformatics and statistics and applying results to study design and direction.

You Will Operate In a Team Of Scientists From Real World Evidence, Translational Science, IT, Statistics, And Therapeutic Area Physicians In Order To:

  • Contribute to research projects by integrating outcomes, genomic and mechanistic data in Diabetes through application of mixed models, predictive modeling, data mining, and other multivariate methods to decrease data complexity, identify novel drug targets, assess target mediated risk profiles, discover disease insights, and create new research hypotheses.
  • Collaborate to drive research studies across the Diabetes and Complications R&D asset portfolio including preclinical and clinical projects. You will assess data and propose recommendations for new research methods to advance the capability of the team to execute real world research.
  • Assist in the evaluation, selection and acquisition of new real world data sources, large scale genetics and genomics data, preclinical and clinical data and partners for retrospective observational research.
  • Deliver insights to researchers through statistical analysis of high dimensional data-sets.
  • Explore the relationships between drug, patient, clinical and disease factors that can
  • significantly impact potential drug safety/efficacy causal relationships as well as building new stronger evidence-based approaches to drug target identification and validation
  • Monitor research literature methods and regularly communicate current trends and innovative methods and applications to business partners through various presentation media.
  • Engage and collaborate with other internal and external experts to assure best practices and key capabilities.
  • PhD Degree in computer science, statistics, mathematics or related field.
  • Experience applying analytics, modeling and statistics in complex data environment.
Additional Skills/Preferences:
  • Knowledge of and experience analyzing high dimensional genomic/genetic data.
  • Experience in biostatistics
  • Experience with drug discovery teams is a big plus.
  • Proven strong writing and oral presentation skills.
  • Exposure to real-world healthcare data, pharmaceutical industry research activities, and clinical research data (biomarkers, omics data) preferred.
  • Experience with statistical computing using R and SAS; proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Python, JS) a plus as well as using tools such as Hadoop, MapReduce, APIs and application with machine learning and data mining.
