Job Description:
We are seeking an individual who can further assist in the organization and management of our data and develop software and analytical tools to support our screening pipelines through assessment of assay and screening statistics and analysis of both small molecule and RNAi/CRISPR-based screen data to identify novel drug targets and interpret the results in the context of pathways and networks.

Preferred Qualifications:

M.S. in Biochemistry, computational biology, systems biology, computer science or applied statistics. Linux shell and scripting experience appropriate for development of data management systems and implementation and execution of software tools for analysis of large scale small molecule and RNAi-based screens including multi-parametric phenotypic high content imaging screens. Proficiency in R, MATLAB or Perl/Python programming in a Linux environment. Working experience with relational databases (Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL). Experience in the development and maintenance of computational biology pipelines. Significant familiarity with signal transduction, biological assays, high throughput screening.

Job Duties

Job Duty: Establish a data management system to support efforts in small molecule and RNA/CRISPR based screens. Identify and implement applications to support analysis and visualization of data from large scale screens. Apply machine learning methodologies to assist in the analysis of complex data sets. Prepare data sets for deposit into public repositories. Manage research laboratory computer hardware and software.

Job Duties

Job Duty: Develop and implement quality control, data normalization and hit selection protocols to support high throughput screens in the small molecule and RNAi/CRISPR facilities. Develop pipelines to better integrate the RNAi/CRISPR Facility with the Computational Biology and Bioinformatics Initiative (CBBI) at the GCCRI and to also integrate the Small Molecule Facility with the Med Chem facility within CIDD. Evaluate, analyze and interpret research data and generate reports of screening progress.

The Research Scientist will be part of the staff of the center for Innovative Drug Discovery (CIDD) Small Molecule High Throughput Screening Facility and the Greehey Children’s Cancer Research Institute(GCCRI) RNAi/CRISPR High Throughput Screening Facility. The Small Molecule HTS Facility currently has a chemical library of 150,000 compounds and the RNAi facility has a library of 66,000 distinct siRNAs that target 22,000 genes as well as miRNA inhibitors/mimics and pooled lentiviral CRISPR libraries. As the facilities have recently experienced significant growth, we are implementing data management and analysis tools to serve our growing customer base.
