Job Description:
Join the world's leading statistical software company and make a difference in the practice of statistics and data science! SAS is looking for a developer with a strong statistical background and excellent programming skills to develop state-of-the-art software for regression analysis of complex, high-dimensional data.

In this position, you will implement specialized methods in new and existing SAS software. You will keep up with the forefront of statistical learning, identify appropriate regression modeling techniques for implementation, and program these methods in C. You will also test and document the software and present it to professional statistical audiences.

Essential Qualifications:

-PhD in statistics, computer science, bioinformatics, operations research, numerical analysis, applied mathematics, physics, or a related field

-Strong background in statistical and machine learning methods for building regression models and analyzing high-dimensional data

-Experience writing large, complex programs in C, C++, Java, FORTRAN, or a similar scientific programming language

Additional Qualifications:

-Excellent written and verbal communication skills

-Strong background in statistical computing

Preferences:

-Experience developing commercial-quality software

-In-depth knowledge of numerical linear algebra and optimization methods used in statistical computing

-Experience with parallel computing in shared/distributed memory environments and GPU programming

-Experience in modern computationally intensive methods such as: post-selection inference, nonparametric and semiparametric regression analysis, penalized regression modeling including the Lasso and its generalizations, generalized additive models
