Digicon is seeking a Scientific Programmer to support our customer is working with a research organization performing a variety of large-scale genetic and genomic studies. This organization employs cutting-edge technologies, such as next-generation sequencing methods, to advance the understanding of the basic mechanisms underlying human disease. This is a ground floor opportunity to make significant contributions to the organization. Qualigivsyiondz:
- Five years professional experience programming in C++, Perl and Python
- Two years professional experience with relational database development (Oracle & SQL Server)
- Demonstrated experience in developing and deploying applications on UNIX and Linux platforms
- Familiarity with implementing and maintaining purchased software, databases and tools (experience with imaging software preferred)
- Previous experience providing programming support for bioinformatics or genomic projects is a plus
- Experience with object-oriented programming
- Experience with high-performance (parallel) computing
- Imaging Visualization support capabilities
- Must be well-organized and experienced with software documentation
- Serve as an interface between the scientific community and IT organization to ensure the information technology needs of scientific researchers are addressed
- Candidate must be capable of independently serving as a liaison to the scientific community
- Willingness to diversify skills and empowered to champion new innovations and solutions for the client
- The ability to be self-motivated and work independently, with minimal supervision
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a confident and cooperative service-oriented attitude
- Fluency in both written and spoken English
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in computer science, biology, bioinformatics, or a related field
