Quest Diagnostics (NYSE: DGX) is currently seeking a Senior Database Technical Specialist to work onsite with the team based in San Juan Capistrano, CA. The Senior Database Technical Specialist will conceptualize and design database solutions and manage processes with a team of developers in our Bioinformatics group. In this position the Senior Database Technical Specialist will:
- Design, develop, deliver and implement database solutions to our Bioinformatics applications
- Troubleshoot, debug and provide solution for database process that follows efficient design techniques and development that meets and exceeds the intent of the design of the data solution
- Manage day-to-day tasks and activities in coordination with a team of developers to effectively meet the deliverables and schedule of a data solution component/project
- Support and maintain data and database systems to meet business delivery specifications and needs for the Bioinformatics group
- BS degree in computer science, or equivalent. MS or Ph.D. preferred.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- 5+ years of database development experience in MS SQL Server.
- Ability to design, develop and implement database solutions for our applications.
- Ability to troubleshoot and provide solutions for database process.
- Skilled in effectively managing day-to-day tasks and activities in coordination with a team of developers to effectively meet the deliverables schedule.
- Experience supporting and maintaining data and database systems to meet business delivery specifications.
- Knowledge of Oracle and Linux environments preferred.
- Project management and support experience a plus.
- Experience in database tuning and performance preferred.
- Experience in life sciences, computational biology/bioinformatics, next-generation sequencing (NGS) and bioinformatics analysis pipelines, testing/validation/debug scripts preferred.
