Job Description:
Lantern is seeking a talented and highly motivated senior level lead computational biologist +strong machine learning + cancer biology expertise to lead our tech/ Ai group working on our evolving proprietary platform for drug specific patient prediction. The main responsibilities include leading our efforts in analyzing large-scale multi-omic biological data sets, such as next-gen sequencing, gene expression, copy-number, mutation, methylation, metabolomics and clinical datasets. The computational biologist will be responsible for identification and implementation of algorithms that generate novel hypotheses from the integration of clinical and tumor profiling data from internal, external and emerging datasets for both small molecule therapies, IO therapies and combo therapies. In addition, the computational biologist will lead the current analysis efforts on projects to integrate clinical and pre-clinical cancer datasets to identify ‘druggable’ tumor signaling pathways, biomarkers, combinations that might guide clinical trial enrollment and implement new methadologies. The candidate will be very familiar with cancer and bioinformatics datasets ad databases. The successful candidate will have a unique opportunity to work with a diverse team of computational biologists, clinical oncologists, experimental scientists, and software engineers, from Lantern and partners from academia/ industry.

The candidate will be involved in further evolving our current technology platform and developing new or additional bioinformatics pipelines to automate established analysis, supporting the clinical reporting team, and assisting in developing new diagnostic assays. Development of new algorithms or optimizing current algorithms to analyze data sets via neural networks and associated deep learning technologies running on GPU-accelerated and/or cloud based architectures. Critical computational contributions will include careful statistical analysis of genomic alterations and their associations with each other and with clinical parameters, development and application of state-of-the-art machine learning and classification tools to carefully identify patterns in complex data, The ideal candidate will have extensive training in statistics and machine learning techniques, with prior experience in building efficient software tools. The candidate must be currently living and authorized to work in USA.

SKILLS/EXPERIENCE:

  • PhD with at least 3 years of work experience in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Computer Science, cancer biology, Genomics, Immuno-Oncology or related discipline is required.
  • Evaluating associations between novel genomic biomarkers and response to therapy across multiple internal and external datasets
  • Developing complex genetic signatures or composite biomarkers that combine biomarker data from multiple sources into a clinically-relevant outcome
  • Assessing and developing new methodologies to analyze biomarkers for Immuno-Oncology (e.g., neoantigen prediction, TCR sequencing, metabolomics etc)
  • Ability to apply statistical and machine learning techniques to solve “big data” problems.
  • Familiar with cancer biology, genomics, molecular biology, and signaling pathways,
  • Extensive experience in bioinformatics integration across genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics and metabolomics.
  • Experience in sequencing data analyses and bioinformatics pipelines and Proficiency in the use of bioinformatics software, packages, and database
  • Ability to be a self-starter and effectively operate, communicate and influence decision making within cross-functional and multi-disciplinary team.
