Job Description:
Corteva Agriscience™, Agriculture Division of DowDuPont™, is looking for an innovative, energetic, and transformational Software Manager to lead our Bioinformatics Software Development Team. The bioinformatics team’s mission is to transform genomic and proteomic data into actionable knowledge accessible through systems and applications built using industry best practices.

As the manager of the bioinformatics software team, you will lead a global team of industry shaping software developers, architects, and supporting staff to deliver world-class, high impact projects. You will lead highly collaborative cross-functional initiatives across Corteva Research & Development teams as well as within Corteva’s Data Science and Informatics organization. These responsibilities require you to have strong technical, organizational, and communication skills and an intensely collaborative spirit.

Your responsibilities will include direct supervision of software architects and engineers, strategic leadership for areas of scientific software development, project management, and management of service agreement processes. You will need to be able to prioritize across multiple projects and domains, communicate effectively across different nationalities and cultures, and communicate clearly and transparently the deliverables for your team. One of your key responsibilities is to help drive our cloud computing initiatives in the genomics research space.

Job Qualifications

Basic Qualifications include:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Computer Science or related field
  • Demonstrated history as a software development manager
  • 8+ years professional experience in formal software development
  • 3+ years of people leadership
  • Expertise in software engineering/architecture; experience in science related fields is a plus.
  • Experience with formal software development practices
  • Demonstrated ability to understand project scope and requirements
  • Expertise in a modern programming language, preferably Python.
  • Experience on *nix platforms
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous experience managing and leading teams across multiple locations
  • Experience with Agile software methodologies
  • Scientific, bioinformatics, or data science background
  • Experience using Amazon Web Services (AWS)
