A very kind send off from Texas A&M AgriLife by G. Cliff Lamb, Ph.D. Director, Texas A&M AgriLife Research: “Please join me in congratulating Charlie Johnson, Ph.D., on an esteemed career with Texas A&M AgriLife Research as he prepares to retire from his role as founding director of Texas A&M AgriLife Genomics and Bioinformatics Service, TxGen, on Sept. 1.
Dr. Johnson began his career in life science research in 1989 and founded TxGen in 2010 as part of an AgriLife Research initiative. He built TxGen into an international genomics service organization supporting researchers across agriculture, natural resources, animal health and life sciences. Under his leadership, TxGen supported researchers in every life sciences department of The Texas A&M University System and scientists in 45 countries. Dr. Johnson’s vision and commitment to service have left a lasting mark on AgriLife Research, and we are grateful for his years of service to genomics research.
