Breast Cancer Now’s Research Centre at the ICR is the first centre in the UK entirely devoted to breast cancer research and its goal is to advance research into the causes, diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer. Currently known as The Breakthrough Toby Robins Breast Cancer Research Centre, at The Institute of Cancer Research, London, it is located in state-of-the-art laboratory space, with excellent core facilities and funding. The ICR is committed to attracting, developing and retaining the best minds in the world to join us in our mission – to make the discoveries that defeat cancer. We wish to appoint a Bioinformatics Officer to our core bioinformatics facility to work on a range of breast cancer related projects spanning molecular pathology, functional genomics and genetic epidemiology. The successful individual will be in a key interface position, supporting initiatives to apply next generation sequencing (NGS) such as exome and whole genome sequencing, RNA-seq; microarray, nanoString nCounter and in some circumstances proteomic platform data analysis for the understanding of breast cancer biology. The successful post holder will be responsible for the quality assurance, electronic storage and primary analysis of bioinformatics data generated by numerous projects in breast cancer. The appointment will be on a Fixed Term Contract and will be available for a period of 18 months. The successful candidate will have a broad bioinformatics experience base with a good working knowledge of cancer genomics and pathway biology.
