Job Description:
AncestryDNA is seeking a motivated, collaborative and talented Bioinformatics Data Specialist with experience organizing and maintaining genomic data and metadata for use in advanced genomics pipelines. Working with a diverse team of geneticists, statisticians, computer scientists and epidemiologists, the Bioinformatics Data Specialist will develop and implement tools and pipelines for integrating and managing our singular and enormous data set of genotypes, pedigrees, and phenotypes in order to facilitate their use in novel research. The successful candidate will also be responsible for identifying and generating new genetic and other resources for use in algorithmic and assay development.

Qualifications:

-Master’s degree or Ph.D. in Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Computational Biology, or related.

-Excellent coding skills in one or more of Python, Java, C/C++.

-Demonstrated success in and setting up relational and noSQL databases for analytical use.

-Experience working with genotyping and sequencing data, as well as with public genomics resources and ontologies (NCBI, UCSC, 1000 Genomes, ENCODE, SNOMED, Human Phenotype Ontology, ExAC, etc.)

-Working knowledge of statistics and algorithms and pipelines for the analysis of genomic data.

-Familiarity with software development environments, modern version control systems, and interacting with APIs.

-Keen attention to detail, superb organizational and problem solving skills, and a focus on data integrity.

-Excellent interpersonal and verbal and written communication skills for a fast-paced team environment.
