Job Description:
This position is created to meet the growing bioinformatics data analysis support needs on campus, especially among the UAB Center for Clinical & Translational Science community and the cancer center. The Informatics Institute looks to recruit bioinformatics technical leaders experienced in applying cutting-edge tools developed in recent research teams to various translational biomedical research problems, which are led by biomedical and/or clinical research investigators that use genomics and bioinformatics. The position will report to the Chief Bioinformatics Officer of the Informatics Institute. The main duty of the Scientist position is to apply bioinformatics approaches to the analysis of high throughput omics biological and clinical data. This position is responsible for the development and application of bioinformatics approaches to support collaborative projects in the Informatics Institute. Annual Salary Range: $63,125 - $103,700 Qualifications: PhD in Bioinformatics, Computer Sciences or related field, 2-10 years of experience. The Scientist should be proficient in R/Bioconductor, Python, Linux programming, and SQL.
