GENERAL SUMMARY/ OVERVIEW STATEMENT:

Receiving general direction from Dr. Rosand, Dr. Anderson, and the Lab Manager, incumbent will independently work in the field of computational biology and bioinformatics to perform genetic analyses for analysis projects which include, but are not limited to; curation of large datasets, coordination of genotyping and phenotyping projects, quality control and harmonization of genome-wide common and rare variant data, multivariable model-building and association testing, and meta-analyses. Working closely with other members of the lab, the Analyst will also assist in managing the genetics platform of the Lab.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Incumbent will perform genetic analyses for analysis projects which include, but are not limited to, curating genotype/phenotype databases, analyzing relevant genotype and phenotype data for ischemic and hemorrhagic stroke, communicating with program faculty, fellows, external agencies, participating in international scientific collaborative projects, and GWAS, exome array, sequencing, and meta- and mega-analyses. The Bioinformatics Specialist I will also assist current lab members in managing the genetics platform of the Rosand Lab, including QC of common and rare variant analyses. Candidate will take part in the analysis of the lab’s ongoing ICH GWAS discovery phases and replication genotyping efforts. This will also include taking part in regular conference calls to discuss project status, next steps and present data generated. Responsible for generating analysis plans of their own leveraging the samples and data available to the lab.

• Experience with statistical and programing software (R, Python, C, MatLab, SAS, SQL, Stata, UNIX, Linux), preferred.

EDUCATION: Bachelor’s Degree

•Minimum of 1 year of directly related experience required

• Undergraduate, graduate, or post-graduate training in computer science, computer programming, and/or statistics, preferred.

• Scientific background, with proven experience in multi-tasking various assigned scientific/research projects.
