Job Description:
This job presents the opportunity to work in a strategically important analytics team of understanding and driving business performance and customer value for Ancestry DNA and subscription business. Working with members of Product, Marketing, Marketing research, Data Science, Data engineering and Financial planning teams, you will understand customer segments and identify levers and opportunities to drive improvement in conversion, retention, Xsell and customer life time value cross Ancestry websites, marketing channels, mobile app, customer services and social media. The role need to be expert at leveraging wide range online/offline data , integrating vast information and retrieving the most critical insights. Excellent communication skills and data storytelling are essential since the role need to communicate with Executives/non-technical business partners in a way that is actionable and comprehensible to them.

The position is open to be hired at San Francisco, CA.

What you will do:

  • Prepare business performance review and conduct root cause analysis for executive reporting.
  • Spot trends and correlation between business actions and business performance on different customer segments.
  • Understand business context, identify critical business problems and translate them into technical analyses.
  • Provide customer analytic insights to drive changes cross Marketing, Product and various operation teams and ultimately to improve customer value and key business metrics.
  • Identify business opportunities, conduct financial / ROI assessment and present business case and work with various partners to push for solution implementation.
  • Work with Marketing research and UX team to understand customer segments and their needs, profile our customer base and monitor the base composition change.
  • Partnership with Data science team to build predictive customer models.
  • Understand and leverage data in various forms and channels - including customer transaction data, clickstream web behavior data, CRM data, social data and survey data.
  • Conduct experiment analysis, causal inference, lifetime value calculation and what if analysis.
  • Being able to thrive under pressure and balance perfection and time to “market” without sacrificing work/data quality.
  • Plan and organize work to meet schedules and deadlines.
Qualifications:
  • BS in Economics, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Operation Research, Bioinformatics, or similar or MBA in Marketing or Business Analytics. Masters is preferred
  • MUST HAVE a minimum of 2 years of relevant industry experience analyzing customer transaction data using SQL (Teradata, Oracle, or MySQL) or Analytics database (Vertica or Greenplum) and Python, R, SAS or other statistical package
  • The ability to write Python programming to run analysis on big Dataset is PLUS
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel (pivot tables, advanced formulas, modeling etc)
  • Strong research and analytical mindset and extremely detail-oriented
  • Self-motivated, energetic, "can-do" attitude in a fast-moving environment
  • Strong communication skills, written and verbal; ability to present data and its implications in a clear, concise manner
  • Team player with excellent interpersonal skills, being able to build bridges and confront tough issues that need to be resolved.
  • Ability to manage priorities across multiple stakeholders.
