Job Description:
Organize, connect, and analyze data streams generated by research groups within the regenerative medicine department to enrich scientific discovery.

Key Accountabilities / Responsibilities:

  • Act as lead user-facing administrator of the in-house data management system (ELN)
  • Provide training to end-users for in-house data management system (ELN) and other software programs used for data analysis
  • Work with end users to create customized templates and searches for data entry, data storage in results database, and computation in ELN or other software programs as appropriate
  • Create and implement data organization structures (e.g. documentation practices and databases) to facilitate retrospective and prospective analyses. Continually work to proactively identify improved data organization structures, systems and software
  • Evaluate software packages or systems that can improve data analysis and management. Lead and/or coordinate the implementation of chosen software packages as appropriate
  • Using data analysis software, field and execute custom query requests, including bioinformatics analyses (genomics, proteomics), as needed to support team projects. As appropriate, generate written reports to summarize the outcome(s) of requested analyses, including data interpretation and conclusions
  • Provide training and system access to enable individual team members to execute custom query requests, as appropriate.
  • Provide design input and feedback for the development of automated control systems
  • As needed, contribute to other engineering team efforts to support R&D efforts within the regenerative medicine department, such as hardware design and construction, and control software design and implementation
  • Follow prescribed laboratory methods and protocols under GLP/GMP-like conditions
  • Record all laboratory data in the in-house data management system(s)
  • Regularly present and discuss data, systems, and data analytical needs with laboratory staff and program leaders.
  • All other duties as required
  • Follow proper procedures regarding laboratory safety, use of personal protective equipment, and handling of biohazard materials, including human or animal cells and tissues
Minimum Requirements:
  • Master’s degree in engineering, statistics, computer science, or related field
  • 2-5 years of post-baccalaureate experience in engineering, statistics, computer science, or related field
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Facility with appropriate word processing, spreadsheet, presentation and related standard software
  • Experience with laboratory instrumentation and data software
  • Good team member skills; must work well with others
  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to initiate and manage day-to-day tasks effectively
  • Ability to organize and present data
  • Ability to independently follow experimental methods and protocols
  • Highly self-motivated
