Job Description:
You are responsible for building models that make sense of Klick’s and client’s data stores. You will work with a small team to design experiments, collect data, evaluate results, visualize and report findings, and explore new data sets. Our data science practice includes exploratory analysis, social media analysis, marketing analysis and optimization, and a variety of people-support efforts to support management and employees in making work a great place to be.

We work with NLP, Hierarchical Bayesian methods, MCMC, SVMs, decision trees, and sometimes neural networks. Our tool set is based around Python, and we work with a mix of structured data in SQL and unstructured textual data.

You will work on assigned projects, and report back regularly. Our team encourages feedback and participation, and you will have a voice in how projects are structured and what objective are pursued.

You will need to liaise effectively with technologists, marketing strategists, people practice thinkers, and upper management.

Successful candidates will have:

  • Masters degree or Doctorate in statistics, mathematics, bioinformatics, physical sciences, engineering, or a related field in which advanced statistical methods are used.
  • Solid understanding of statistics and experimental design.
  • Deep knowledge of working with data, including biases, errors, confusion, power, and significance.
  • Demonstrated capability to build models using machine learning methods, such as neural networks, Bayesian models, MCMC, nearest-neighbour methods, SVMs, random forests, etc.
  • Ability to visualize results in ways that make complicated relationships clear.
  • Proficiency in R, Python, or both and SQL.
  • Working familiarity with cloud computing.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as an autonomous data scientist on a small project, and to collaborate with an interdisciplinary group on larger projects.
  • Disciplined curiosity, consistent with the best traditions of science.
  • The successful candidate will show previous success in the construction of production-grade models.
