Job Description:
Would you like to work on cutting edge research that is making a real difference in the early diagnosis and prevention of cancer? An opportunity has arisen for a Junior Data Analyst/ Developer to support the research activities of the Cancer Screening and Prevention Research Group (CSPRG) based at the St Mary’s Campus of Imperial College London, located in Paddington.

You will work within an internationally renowned multidisciplinary group undertaking research into the prevention of colorectal cancer, the second biggest cancer killer in the developed world. Joining a friendly, highly motivated team, you will be involved in several clinical research projects funded by the UK Government and charities, including Cancer Research UK.

You will help our Data Analyst/Developer to design, build and test Oracle SQL databases for clinical research datasets. You will also help to maintain existing ones. You will fill these databases with data from hospitals, national repositories, and other third parties from across the UK. You will deliver subsets of this data to the medical statisticians for analysis. Our analyses inform national policies on screening and surveillance for colorectal cancer.

Working with the Data Analyst/Developer, you will help to ensure that the CSPRG is compliant with all statutory and regulatory requirements for all aspects of Information Governance. You will be encouraged to attend training that will help you to continue to perform the duties outlined in the Job Description to a high standard.

You will have a degree in computer science, information management, bioinformatics or a related numerate or scientific discipline. Knowledge and experience of relational databases, application development, programming and working with large complex datasets are essential. Experience of working with clinical datasets in a research setting would be beneficial.
