Job Description:
We are seeking an innovative, collaborative and accomplished scientist to work on a variety of computational biology and genomics projects centered on target identification and drug discovery. The individual will work on internal and external datasets, including next generation bulk and single cell sequencing data, phenotypic screening data, and will develop tools and analysis strategies to generate focused hypotheses for target identification/validation and drug discovery. A critical component of the job will be the close collaboration with internal drug discovery teams and external investigators.

Responsibilities:

  • Creatively collaborate in a team setting to develop a platform for genomics-based target discovery.
  • Apply or develop new tools or data-mining techniques for integrative analysis and visualization of multi-dimensional data-sets for target discovery.
  • Integrate genomic and experimental data using appropriate statistical methods to impact drug discovery projects by helping refine the patient population and responder hypotheses.
Qualifications:>
  • This position requires a PhD in Bioinformatics, Biology, Genetics or equivalent.
  • A minimum of 7 years of relevant work experience in bioinformatics or computational biology in an academic or industry setting.
  • A solid understanding of bioinformatics databases and software.
  • A solid understanding of biological processes, such as oncology, genetic diseases or immunology.
  • Strong scientific background and proven high levels of performance, as evidenced by driving projects to key milestones and a strong publication record.
Capabilities:
  • Excellent communication skills. Ability to communicate in an open, clear, timely and consistent manner.
  • A results-driven mindset with analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work as a team member in a dynamic, fast-paced biotech environment where you can make a clear impact.
  • Interest and/or demonstrated experience in translating the needs and solutions developed in the course of addressing specific analysis problems into broadly applicable and useful informatics capabilities.
  • Ability to work with internal and external collaborators to funnel emerging genomics discoveries to guide internal programs.
  • Proficiency with R, Python or other scripting language for statistical computing and graphics.
  • Ability to self-direct and self-motivate.

Additional Info:
Blueprint Medicines is a top-tier, publicly-traded (BPMC) Biopharmaceutical Company focused on discovering, developing and commercializing highly-selective kinase inhibitors for genomically defined diseases. Originally funded by Third Rock Ventures, the company has built a sophisticated genomics platform and a one-of-kind annotated compound collection which is delivering a pipeline of novel therapies. In just three years, four programs have been established in genomically defined cancers and one program in the rare genetic disease space.

WHO WE ARE:

Blueprint Medicines’ mission is to dramatically improve the lives of patients with genomically defined diseases. Our singular focus is to use our deep understanding of the genetic blueprint of cancer and other diseases driven by the abnormal activation of kinases to craft highly selective medicines aimed at eradicating these diseases.

We don’t think in small steps. We think in giant leaps.

We are driven by the pursuit of new ideas, new innovations, and new ways of thinking.

We know that what each and every one of us does matters and that our success depends on our ability to work together.
