CJM Recruiting Solutions in Partnership with Trelys Biotechnologies (one of our premiere Bio-Renewable Synthetic Biology Research companies in the SF Bay Area) is expanding and seeking a Sr./Principle Bioinformatics Scientist to join their pioneering team which is lead by one of the industry's most successful CEOs. The Awesome Role for a Pure BioInformatics Expert: In this role the Sr. Bioinformatics Scientist will be the in-house bioinformatics expert working with their unique anaerobic platform, and in addition to the bringing in-house their bioinformatics capability, they will play a key role in expanding their current program capabilities as well as work on identification and launch of future programs in their product portfolio. They will work heavily with the Strain Development team in designing and developing our strains with data based information from such sources as Next-Generation Sequencing based methods and applications, in validating products for research to commercial launches. They will become a trusted Advisor and Advocate for utilizing our unique anaerobic platform with our CEO. What You Will Oversee :

- Collaborating with scientist/engineers and research associates in all phases of R&D work including experimental design, data analysis, data interpretation, and next iterations.
- Performing design and analysis for development of microbial based products and applications read alignment,
- Utilize targeted DNA/RNA sequencing, mapping, annotation, and variant calling.
- Writing and packaging off-the-shelf scripts into custom pipelines
- Enabling data analysis by non-bioinformaticians that will be part of the executive team weekly review as well as the PM group.
- M.S. or Ph.D. degree in Genetics, Biology, Bioinformatics, Biostatistics, Computational Biology, Computer Science, or related field
- Prior experience at a Synthetic biology company or research lab
- Deep understanding of next generation sequencing methods, platform-specific bias and errors, and data interpretation
- Hands-on experience with large-scale genomic data (e.g. whole genome sequencing, exome-seq, target enrichment, amplicon sequencing, RNA-seq, etc.)
- Hands-on experience with genome alignment, mapping, variant calling and annotation tools
- Familiarity with anaerobic microbiologic based genomics, standard genomic databases (UCSC, EnsEMBL, NCBI), formats, and tools.
- Proficiency in python, ruby, perl, or another high-level scripting language (Python highly preferred)
- Familiarity with UNIX-based operating systems and shell scripting
- Excellent data analysis and visualization skills (Tableau, R, matplotlib, or similar)
- Excellent understanding of molecular biology and cell biology
Extra Qualities We Seek That Will Set You Apart From Any Crowd :
Additional desired qualities include:- Familiarity with source control (git, subversion)
- Experience with LIMS and data acquisition from lab instruments
- Experience with UI development for non-programing users
- Knowledge of at least one compiled language such as C/C++, Java, or C#
Requeriments :
- M.Sc. or higher Degree in Bioinformatics
- M.Sc. or higher Degree in computational biology
- M.Sc. or higher Degree in Computer Science
- Master’s Degree in Genetics
