Bioinformatics Scientist

Job Description:
CiberMed is a Bay Area startup that is developing the next generation of predictive biomarkers for cancer therapy. The team consists of world-class scientists and clinicians working to revolutionize the way cancer is monitored and treated.

The Position:

Bioinformatics Scientist (Palo Alto, CA)

Responsibilities:

• Analyze next generation sequencing libraries (RNA-Seq, DNA-Seq)
• Effectively store and manage large datasets
• Carefully follow detailed laboratory protocols
• Thoroughly document all results
• Multitask effectively to meet deadlines
• Compile and communicate result reports on a regular basis
• Stay current with new procedures and related research
• Work under minimal supervision once trained

• Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred
• 3-5 years of computational biology experience required
• Proficiency in genomics analysis, next generation sequencing, and pipeline/database development required
• Familiarity with cancer biology and molecular biology a strong plus
• Background in statistics and/or machine learning preferred
• Desire and drive to work in a fast-paced and highly collaborative start-up
• Demonstrated proficiency in standard bioinformatics software languages (e.g., R, Python, etc.) and technical skills
• Systems management (Linux, Unix) experience preferred
• Strong communication skills (verbal and technical)
• Detail oriented with ability to execute complex protocols
• Proficient at multitasking
• Excellent organization and documentation skills
