Job Description:
The role is an excellent opportunity for a person completing their PhD who wants to develop their data analysis and bioinformatics skills in a commercial context. You will be exposed to a very wide variety of scientific and bioinformatic approaches and will work within a close-knit team of scientists and IT specialists in an intellectually demanding environment. It is a fantastic first step in a scientific career.

Skills:

  • PhD with a strong molecular biology background, preferably working in non-model organisms.
  • Prior use of public domain bioinformatics tools and data is essential.
  • Knowledge of NGS data is valuable, although expert NGS analysis expertise is not specifically required
  • Experience of working with tools at the command line is preferred as is knowledge of R.
  • High degree of verbal and written proficiency is essential as is the capability to communicate complex scientific concepts to others.
  • Enthusiastic, keen and able to learn, with excellent analytical and problem solving skills and able to work well as part of a team.
Restrictions:
  • Own transport is preferred as the client site is not easily accessible by public transport
  • Must have the right to work in the UK without the need for special VISA arrangements
