Job Description:
The Department of Genetics in the School of Medicine at LSUHSC in New Orleans is seeking to fill a Bioinformatics Analyst position. The successful candidate will provide broad bioinformatics, computational genomics and computer programmer support on analysis of multiplatform genomic and other biological data and integration of these data with clinical information on research programs and collaborative projects within the Bioinformatics and Genomics program at LSUHSC. The incumbent will be responsible for maintaining the efficient operation of the bioinformatics laboratory, installation and upgrade of bioinformatics software, genomic resources and will be involved in providing bioinformatics consulting services on collaborative projects. He/she will assist the Principal Investigator with summarization, analysis, visualization and organization of data for publication; assist with preparation of grant application; assist and /or teach graduate students and others rotating through the lab; often responsible for supervision and training of junior research personnel such as graduate, undergraduate and summer student. Qualifications: -Bachelor’s Degree in the field(s) of study Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Statistical Genetics, Biostatistics or closely related field -Three years of experience in bioinformatics analysis of large-scale omics, sequence, and other biological data OR -Master’s (MS) Degree in Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Statistical Genetics or closely related field Preferred Qualifications: Ph.D. in Bioinformatics, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Statistical Genetics or closely related field
