The software developer/analyst will design, code and implement a variety of existing and future systems for laboratory information management (LIMS), data management, sophisticated analytics and bioinformatics analysis; perform maintenance and system enhancements based on business needs; participate in the development of new systems; write use cases and functional requirements, test and debug software in line with the Helomics SDLC process. The software developer/analyst position at Helomics is an opportunity to work at the forefront of precision cancer diagnostics. The software developer/analyst will design, code and implement a variety of existing and future systems for laboratory information management (LIMS), data management, sophisticated analytics and bioinformatics analysis; perform maintenance and system enhancements based on business needs; participate in the development of new systems; write use cases and functional requirements, test and debug software in line with the Helomics SDLC process. Duties & Responsibilities:
- Design and modify existing in-house developed and commercial labaratory operational systems (e.g. LIMS ), performing system maintenance and new enhancements to accommodate changing business needs
- Analyze, design and code new web-based applications for data management and analytics of healthcare diagnostics data according to user specifications and business requirements
- Adherence to an agile software development process and procedures.
- Working knowledge (e.g. database setup, writing SQL scripts) of relational databases such as SQLServer, Oracle and Postgres
- Working knowledge of modern object oriented web development with Ruby, HTML5, Jscript , JQuery or AngularJS
- Familiarity of using open source bioinformatics tools (e.g. R, Python) for analysis of genomic data
- Working experience of web application development (e.g. web application, interactive website)
- Occasional night and weekend support.
- Other duties may be assigned as needed.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor’s degree with a major in, computer science, engineering, health information science, bioinformatics or related discipline Experience:- Understanding of relational databases
- Mastery of object oriented design principles and object oriented languages
- Proficiency writing SQL queries and updates
- Excellent organization skills
- Ability to independently prioritize tasks and work efficiently in a lean, fast-paced, healthcare focused organization
- Demonstrated ability to work independently or in small teams and work with a variety of stakeholders from co-workers, and internal and external customers
- Ability to work flexible schedule schedules, including weekends as required
- Well developed and effective oral and written communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to effectively communicate technical concepts to non-technical end users
