Ambry Genetics is seeking a talented bioinformatics Software Engineer to join our highly collaborative team. As a software engineer at Ambry you’ll gain industry-leading experience in AGILE software development while working at the cutting edge of clinical genetics. At Ambry, you’ll have the opportunity to develop innovative solutions and leverage the latest technologies to make our diagnostics-testing even better. The technologies we use include Perl, Python, Dancer2, MySQL, MongoDB, and Elastic Search. Knowledge of the genetics and/or genetic testing industry a huge plus and a sense of humor is a must. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Work in a team that handles one or two computational biology applications.
- Gather requirements from a project manager and a technical lead.
- Write clean testable code to pass HIPAA software development requirements.
- Support stakeholders/end users (mostly internal) with troubleshooting and or general application support.
- Help project managers/business analysts with requirements gathering for new features or enhancements.
- Use the issue tracking system in place (JIRA) to support HIPAA software development guidelines.
- Masters or advanced degree in Computational Biology (or similar relevant specialization) or equivalent professional experience.
- 1+ years of experience in professional software development.
- Experience with Perl/Python and relevant bioinformatics libraries
- Experience with HTML/CSS development
- Relational database experience (example: MySQL, PostgreSQL, Microsoft SQL Server)
- Ability to read and write a variety of structured/semi-structured formats (example: XML, JSON, CSV, TSV)
- Experience with clinical genetics databases (example: HGMD, OMIM).
- Prior biological or bioinformatics experience preferred.
- Experience with consumption and production of web services (example: REST, SOAP, AMQP) is a plus
