The successful applicant would join the Next-Generation Sequencing Lab bioinformatics team, which is located in the Department of Systems Biology, a vibrant hub for interdisciplinary research.
Characteristic Duties and Responsibilities
The incumbent will be required to carry out the following duties and responsibilities:- Improve robust and highly automated computational pipelines for analyzing single cell and bulk RNA-Seq data and exome and genome sequencing data.
- Work with sequencing production team to improve Standard Operating Procedures and quality control.
- Carry out data analysis in strategic projects, including new technology development and collaborations; Provide advices in study design, analytical approaches, and participate manuscript writing.
Minimum Qualifications for Grade
Applicant MUST meet these minimum qualifications to be considered an applicant :- Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Bioinformatics, Genetics, or equivalent in education and experience, plus two years of related experience.
- Demonstrated experience in high-throughput sequencing data analysis or method development.
- Excellent communication skills, good writing, and teamwork.
- Programming: Fluency with at least one general-purpose programming language (such as C/C++, Python, or Ruby), and one language for scientific computing (such as R or MATLAB). Experience with source code version control systems.
- Strong creative thinking and problem solving skills.
