Are you interested in helping push cancer research forward? Would you like to tackle big data problems applied to cancer and the immune system? Do you want to be part of a team that assists in providing personalized data driven treatments to cancer patients? If so, the Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center Immunogenomics Facility is looking for you! The Immunogenomics Facility at the Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center provides bioinformatics and computational biology research services for the cancer center, focused on analysis of clinical samples from cancer immunotherapy trials. We work closely with immunogenomics researchers, clinicians, and with the Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center Bioinformatics Core. As a member of the Immunogenomics Facility, the Bioinformatics Scientist will be responsible for development and execution of software for advanced data analysis tasks in support of LCCC sponsored research. Research goals will be identified through collaboration with geneticists, oncologists, immunologists, biostatisticians, statisticians, and informaticians. Fulfillment of this responsibility requires experience in a Linux computing cluster environment, programmatic database queries, management of large data sets, data mining, statistical analysis, and strong scientific communication skills. Minimum Qualifications: The candidate must have knowledge and experience in DNA or RNA sequence analysis, Linux shell scripting, working in a cluster-computing environment, R, and at least one of Python, Java, C/C++, or Perl. Experience working in a research support environment, with cloud technologies (Docker, OpenStack), Javascript, and with SQL is preferred.An M.S. or B.S and 3 years of experience in computer science, mathematics, physics, bioinformatics, genetics, statistics, or computational biology is required.
