Job Description:
In a computational biology laboratory, the main responsibilities will be to run existing analysis procedures and provide limited programming support to process biological data. Additionally, the applicant will be expected to perform existing procedures and run existing programs to maintain a large biological-based dataset. The applicant will be expected to perform basic data analysis, quality checks on biological sequencing data, using existing applications and algorithms. Additionally, the applicant will carry out supportive laboratory research under supervision using molecular biology techniques and work with animal cells. Position is contingent on continued funding. Qualifications: Qualified candidates should have a B.S. in bioinformatics, biology, molecular biology, biochemistry, or other related fields, and 0-1 years working experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.; advanced degree and a minimum of 1-2 years of experience strongly preferred. The ideal candidate will be a recent graduate with a biology background with an interest in developing bioinformatics skills. Working knowledge of Linux systems, programming language, and molecular biology techniques is required. Experience with Python, R, and Bash is preferred. Candidate expected to have experience in or demonstrate a strong desire to learn about bioinformatics, genomics, and handling of next-generation RNA sequencing and/or SNP genotyping data.
