Job Description:
As an embedded scientist at the FDA, you will be responsible for coordinating DNAnexus’s engagement with FDA. You will build relationships and collaborations within the FDA and with the broader community. You will both collect and help shape requirements for PrecisionFDA, and coordinate the delivery of those requirements with scientists and engineers at DNAnexus. You will identify unmet needs within the FDA that can be fulfilled by a cloud platform such as PrecisionFDA and use the PrecisionFDA platform to fulfill them. In addition, you will help coordinate community activities launched by PrecisionFDA. PrecisionFDA has already launched several challenges to better benchmark and understand genomics applications. You will work with the FDA to identify key genomics applications for future challenges, help structure these challenges, and ensure their smooth operation with the broader community. You will also collaborate closely with the team of DNAnexus scientists and engineers. The DNAnexus science team works with industry leaders across all aspects of genomics, giving us close exposure to leading science and application development. By collaborating with this team you will develop robust knowledge of cutting-edge applications. Requirements: - Master’s Degree in related field (computational biology, computer sciences, physics, etc.); PhD preferred. - Expert understanding of genomics - Strong verbal and written communication skills - Experience working collaboratively with bioinformatics scientists - Strong computational ability - Green card or US Citizens - Experience with NGS technology and pipelines a plus - Participation in collaborative code development projects a plus - Available for occasional travel (~10%) to conferences and to DNAnexus headquarters in Mountain View Compensation/Benefits: - Competitive Salary - 100% health premiums covered by the Company (medical, dental, vision) - Life Insurance and Long Term Disability Insurance 100% paid by Company - 401(K), Flexible Spending (FSA) 12 Company Recognized Holidays per year - Reimbursement for gym membership - Outstanding company culture
