Auto Req ID 16626BR Job Description Position Objective This position is responsible for bioinformatics management and data analysis/assay design related to strategic clinical trial partnerships.  This individual will work with the incredibly diverse Thermo Fisher product portfolio to support customer efforts for assay development.  The successful candidate will drive these exciting opportunities, coordinating efforts between field sales, clinical trial support specialists and field applications support teams. Essential Functions Design of assays following Thermo Fisher best practices to satisfy customer performance requirements (i.e. next generation sequencing, quipper, capillary electrophoresis). Design and customer rollover of custom bioinformatics workflows in support of designed assays.  This will include development of appropriate training materials, in-person and online instruction, and appropriate follow-up to ensure success. Develop and apply knowledge of third party software solutions to resolve customer bioinformatics challenges/requirements. Provide day-to-day management of assigned clinical/pharma relationships with respect to bioinformatics/assay design, ensuring coordination of support and sales to facilitate aggressive development timelines. Serve as a senior technical resource for the clinical implementation team by assisting with issue resolution, training of new bioinformatics personnel, development of implementation strategies, and bioinformatics education of the clinical support team. Understand the technical aspects of the Thermo Fisher product portfolio and how these will work with customer projects. Knowledge of the application, implementation, cost and time to execute are fundamental to the position. Provide feedback to the business segment on product performance in the field and suggested solutions to customer requirements. Provide guidance regarding the unique requirements of customers working in regulated environments to sales, support and marketing. EOE: All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, protected veteran status, or disability status.Minimum Qualifications (must have)BS/BA in Life Sciences, Bioinformatics, Computer Science, or Biostatistics with a minimum of 8 years of experience.  MS with a minimum of 5 years or PhD preferred. Extensive knowledge of molecular biology and next generation sequencing. Demonstrated programming skills in Java, Perl or Python. Extensive data analysis experience in R, MATLAB or other statistical language. Excellent written and verbal communication skills required. Documented record of publications/presentations in scientific/clinical forums. Direct customer training/support experience strongly desired. Ability to travel up to 40% both domestic and international.Preferred Qualifications (nice to have)Three+ years experience in a GLP, CLIA or similar regulated environment desired. Experience with Ion Torrent sequencing data analysis preferred.
