Job Description:
As a part of the R&D team, the Research Associate – Data Analytics is a new position that will play a key role in implementing our data analytics strategy. Our ideal candidate is someone who loves solving tough problems using data. The Research Associate – Data Analytics will aggregate data, create models, run statistics, and other automated analyses that drive critical product development and business decisions. You will work closely with key cross-functional groups to identify system performance parameters, extract data using established methods and processes, and produce reports using appropriate metrics or indicators. You will develop, maintain and improve processes, tools and reports as needed. You will interface and collaborate with scientific and engineering teams to support product development and critical improvements. - Impacts business opportunities through successful completion of projects and through suggestions for improvements in products and processes
- Performs duties under supervision with increasing independence
- Assists in the design and creation of data analysis pipelines working with large and complex data sets
- Maintains tools to aggregate, transform and process data sources to be used in analytical models
- Develops comprehensive understanding of GenMark data structures and metrics as they relate to product development and manufacturing
- Develops logical models of multiplexed assay configurations including diverse elements such as reagents, device layout, sensors, protocols, and software using high level scripting languages
- Creates visual representations of data (maps, charts, figures) that can be easily interpreted
- Interact cross-functionally with a wide variety of people and teams. Works with engineers and scientists to identify opportunities for design changes and assess improvements to end products
- Communicates results clearly and effectively with reports and presentations through visual displays of quantitative information
- Assist with special projects as requested and perform additional duties as required
Key Qualifications & Experience Requirements:
Education and Experience:- B.S./M.S. degree required; life science, biochemistry, molecular biology, computational biology or bioengineering preferred
- 1-2 years of relevant experience in engineering, data analysis or related field.
- Hands-on programming experience with one or more of the following: Python, Java, R, or related languages
- Experience and knowledge of molecular techniques such as nucleic acid extraction, reverse transcription, PCR, immunoassays, and DNA quantification
- Experience with various engineering disciplines such as mechanics, electronics and thermodynamics
- Aptitude for statistics, data mining, and in drawing conclusions from data
- Experience in collaborative projects using software development best practices such as version control and testing
- Strong documentation skills required
- The candidate must be comfortable working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment while juggling multiple project deliverables
- Must be hands-on, self-directed, organized and conscientious
- Complete work in a timely, accurate and thorough manner
- Ability to make sound decisions under supervision and ability to problem solve and seek answers to questions.
- Strong time management and organizational skills in a dynamic environment.
- Strong communication skills including the ability to communicate across disciplines.
- Ability to respond effectively both orally and in writing with management, peers and individuals
- Ability to work effectively, exhibit a professional manner and establish constructive working relationships
