Job Description:
What’s in it for you? We want you to be innovative in your approach to making novel contributions to the development of methods to elucidate microbe-host interactions critical to the advancement of infectious disease therapeutics. You will have the opportunity to leverage high throughput amplicon, metagenomic, systems biology, and comparative genomic approaches to identify the ecological and functional microbial signatures of health and disease states in infectious disease. You will use your training and education to develop quantitative methods, metrics, and analytical procedures for evaluating and interpreting microbiome datasets to identify disease targets and design Ecobiotic® therapeutics. You will follow these therapeutics through clinical development, driving the analysis of clinical genomic and metabolomic data to support clinical outcome. You’ll represent Microbiome Sciences on cross-disciplinary project teams providing expert knowledge and support on emerging approaches and methods in microbiome and systems biology analyses. How do you know if you’re the right fit? You are a highly-motivated scientist who is ready to play a key role in our Ecobiotic® therapeutics discovery program in infectious disease. You are comfortable working intimately with research teams across the organization to translate critical insights in the field of the human microbiome into the discovery of therapeutic microbial compositions for the treatment of infectious diseases and elucidation of their mechanisms of action. You are ready to contribute to the development of the company’s intellectual property portfolio and support regulatory filings for key infectious disease programs. The technical requirements: This role is best suited for a scientist with a Ph.D. or Master’s degree in microbial genomics, computational biology, microbiology, or other related scientific field. You’ve been analyzing and interpreting genomic, transcriptomic, and metabolomic data sets from clinical studies and cohort studies for at least 3 years, with rich experience in bioinformatics and/or statistical analysis of high-dimensional biological data sets. You have both a strong proficiency in at least one analytical language (e.g. R or Matlab) and/or a programing skills in one or more languages (preferred: Python, Perl, or C++). Of course, having experience with infectious disease, host-pathogen interactions, and/or antibiotic resistance is quite attractive to us, too.
Additional Info:
Seres Therapeutics is well-positioned to become the first company to bring a microbiome drug to patients through our proprietary discovery and design platform. We identify key alterations in the microbiome that are associated with specific diseases, and design live bacterial ecologies as therapeutics. We are conducting multiple clinical trials including a recently approved Phase III study. Seres is a dynamic and well-financed biotechnology company located in Cambridge, MA.[Click Here to Access the Original Job Post]
