The Production Engineer performs basic data analysis to support product development and validation studies in product. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage experiment analysis requests and help move data through Natera’s analysis pipeline
- Perform basic data analysis to support product development and validation studies
- Trouble-shoot issues with data quality and pipeline integration
- Communicate effectively with cross-functional teams including software engineering, biology and medical
- This role works with PHI on a regular basis both in paper and electronic form and have an access to various technologies to access PHI (paper and electronic) in order to perform the job.
- Employee must complete training relating to HIPAA/PHI privacy, General Policies and Procedure Compliance training and security training as soon as possible but not later than the first 30 days of hire.
- Must maintain a current status on Natera training requirements.
- Employee must pass post offer criminal background check.
- Bachelor’s degree in biomedical engineering, computer science, bioinformatics, similar, or equivalent
- 2+ years of relevant and related experience required
- Ability to write scripts in Java or Python to collect information from multiple files
- Familiarity with SQL databases including complex query structures
- Experience in a statistical computing environment such as R or Matlab, including file parsing and data visualization
- Conceptual understanding of molecular biology techniques used in next generation sequencing such as PCR, library, barcodes, clonal amplification
- Understanding of data analysis terminology and workflow for next-generation sequencing, from sample to variant calling
- Understanding of data analysis terminology and workflow for Capillary Electrophoresis from sample to variant calling, preferred but not required
- Experience working with laboratory information management systems, preferred but not required
- Ability to prioritize, multitask, and solve problems under pressure
- Excellent verbal and written communication
- Duties are typically performed in an office setting.
- This position requires the ability to use a computer keyboard, communicate over the telephone and read printed material.
- Duties may require working outside normal working hours (evenings and weekends) at times.
- This position has access to confidential HIPAA information.
