Genia Technologies is a nanopore based sequencing company dedicated to making genetic testing easy and affordable. We are developing a revolutionary, low cost DNA/RNA reader that will improve the lives of people in a variety of applications. These include the diagnosis of cancers and infectious diseases, non-invasive prenatal testing, matching the right drug to the right patient (PGx) and identification of genetic diseases. At the heart of Genia's technology is a semiconductor based integrated circuit (IC) built on standard CMOS process technology. Genia's IC and proprietary NanoTag chemistry will make genetic information universally available, significantly improving the way healthcare is practiced today.
Roles & Responsibilities
Responsibilities
Responsible for leading the activities of the algorithm development and software development team related to primary data analysis of Genia sequencing technology. This primary analysis team will interface closely with the sequencer instrument hardware team to ensure that the highest quality base calls can be generated from the raw data. Specific areas of responsibility include:
- Algorithm development for signal processing, quality scores and base calling that converts digital information from instruments to biological sequences to enable bioinformatics applications
- Responsible for converting the algorithms to firmware and software for converting raw measured data into base calls and quality scores
- Responsible for hiring and organizing the Sequence Analysis team and supervising team members to advance the sequencing technology
- As subject matter expert, responsible for planning, making functional decisions and executing associated tasks
- Establishment of an organized technology development planning process.
- Translates product requirements into technical specifications and work proposals
- Review of staff work and reports to ensure quality and consistency
- Fostering team leadership and teamwork skills in a complex, fast-paced, changing environment to deliver value-added results to the organization.
- MS or Ph.D. and 10+ years’ experience leading technology development teams & setting up efficient technology development infrastructures with a proven track record of success bringing product instrumentation to market.
- Minimum (required): Typically 10+ years’ experience in product development
- Preferred: 10 - 15 years’ experience in diagnostic product development with 5 to 8 years management experience
- Expertise in programming with strong expertise in C++ and Matlab required
